Diwali 2026 Marketing Plan for Small Brands: What to Post and When
- Diwali 2026 is on Sunday, 8 November. Dhanteras is Friday, 6 November and Bhai Dooj is Wednesday, 11 November.
- Most gift buying happens in the 10–12 days before Diwali, so your offer should be live by 27 October.
- You need about 10 posts, not 30: teaser, behind the scenes, gift guide, offer launch, creator reel, reviews, last day to order, greeting and thank you.
- Set a clear last-order date based on your delivery time, and say it in every post from 1 November.
If you run a small brand, Diwali can be your biggest month of the year. It can also be the most stressful, because you are making, packing, replying and posting all at once. This plan keeps it simple. Follow it in order and you will have the right post going out at the right time, without posting every hour.
Diwali 2026: the dates that matter
- Dhanteras: Friday, 6 November 2026
- Diwali (Lakshmi Puja): Sunday, 8 November 2026
- Govardhan Puja: Tuesday, 10 November 2026
- Bhai Dooj: Wednesday, 11 November 2026
Work backwards from these. People don't buy Diwali gifts on Diwali. They buy them one to two weeks before, and they need time for delivery.
Step 1: Decide your last-order date first
This is the step most small brands skip, and it costs them sales. Look at how long your delivery usually takes, add a day or two for packing, and count back from 6 November (Dhanteras). If shipping across India takes you 5 days, your last-order date for pan-India is around 30–31 October. Local Delhi delivery can run later.
Write the date down. You will use it in every post from 1 November.
Step 2: The 10-post Diwali plan
You don't need to post every day. You need these ten posts, in this order:
- Teaser (now): "Something is coming for Diwali." Show a corner of the product or the packaging.
- Behind the scenes: you making, packing or wrapping. People trust brands they can see.
- Gift guide: group products by budget: "Gifts under ₹499 / ₹999 / ₹1,999". This makes the decision easy.
- Offer launch (by 27 October): one clear offer, one clear way to order.
- Creator reel: a local creator unboxing or using your product. More on this in our guide to working with local creators.
- Social proof: share real customer messages or reviews (with permission).
- How to order: a simple post or story: DM / WhatsApp / website, payment options, delivery time.
- Last day to order: post it on the day before your cut-off, and again on the day.
- Diwali greeting (8 November): no selling, just a warm wish from you.
- Thank you (after Bhai Dooj): thank customers and show what you packed this season.
Step 3: Make your Instagram ready for Diwali buyers
- Pin 3 posts: your gift guide, your offer and "how to order".
- Update your bio: add "Diwali orders open till [date]".
- Reply fast: during Diwali, a buyer who waits hours for a reply often buys somewhere else.
- Save quick replies for price, delivery time and payment, so you can answer in seconds.
Step 4: Don't forget your old customers
The fastest Diwali sale usually comes from someone who has bought from you before. Send them a personal WhatsApp message with your gift guide. Keep it short, use their name and don't send it as a broadcast blast to strangers.
Quick weekly checklist
- Week of 16 Oct: teaser, behind the scenes, decide last-order date.
- Week of 23 Oct: gift guide, offer launch, creator reel.
- Week of 30 Oct: reviews, how to order, last-day reminders.
- 6–11 Nov: Dhanteras and Diwali greetings, then thank you.
