Checklist before you pay any creator

Engagement should look real: for nano and micro accounts, likes + comments are usually 2–6% of followers. Very high followers with very few comments is a red flag.
Read the comments. Real ones talk about the content; fake ones are emojis and "nice pic" from random accounts.
Ask for an Insights screenshot: audience city, age and gender should match your customer.
Look at their last 3 brand posts. Did those look natural, and did people react?
Put deliverables, dates, revisions and usage rights (can you run their video as an ad, and for how long?) in writing.
Pay 50% before and 50% after the content goes live, or use barter plus a small fee for nano creators.
